Marimekko’s Satu Maaranen has had the pleasure of working in the adidas x Marimekko collaboration since the beginning. As a part of the cross-company design team, she discusses the collections’ themes, patterns, and the color palette.
The highlights so far include the initial face-to-face meeting when Marimekko’s team traveled to the adidas’ headquarters in Germany with a suitcase jam-packed with archive Marimekko dresses, carrying with them a priceless folder of original Unikko (poppy) color samples.
The Marimekko and Adidas teams hit it off straight away – like the collaboration was written in the stars!
